Community First Responders:
Ambulance Service Volunteers who give up a small amount of their own time to make a real difference to their neighbour's lives.
They are every day members of the public who undergo emergency medical training provided by the ambulance service.
They can be responded to critically injured or sick people who require immediate medical care prior to an emergency ambulance arriving. Responders carry an emergency response kit and this includes a life saving piece of equipment called an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator). They are always backed up by the nearest available emergency ambulance.
